NEW ITEM 2023: 3 INNOVATIVE MODULAR SOLUTIONS FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Of some of the best 2023 innovations from ITEM, a German company that leads the world with its innovative component system for industrial applications, we had talked about a few months ago, but this fall/winter’s innovations make ITEM’s processes and solutions even more efficient.

Innovative industrial solutions through the principle of modular construction

There are three main innovations introduced by the company, which, thanks to the proposed modular construction principle, fit perfectly with existing solutions.

• The suspended transport for the procurement of materials
• LED signaling: with LED strips and signal lamps up to 6 meters long, it is possible to display operational states in a personalized and efficient way
• Conveyor belt tailgate system for maximum design freedom in guiding goods along transport routes due to the extensive modularity system.

1. New ITEM suspended transport system, for industrial applications

We had seen, in the article mentioned above, how antistatic conveyor belts provided maximum protection when transporting sensitive components. Always talking about innovations in conveying solutions, the suspended transport is a great solution for materials procurement, a safe and innovative option to include in your company’s lean production process.

ITEM’s new suspended conveyor system, D37-32 ESD sleds, offer high load capacity and safety with a load capacity of up to 5 kg and fully covered rollers.

When components take up too much space in small containers or tend to get jammed together often, the new suspended conveyor system provides the optimal solution for efficiently delivering and/or displaying materials and products, either directly hanging or in bags, such as bundles of cables, mats, professional clothing, equipment and industrial items of various kinds.

The suspended transport system is a lightweight, robust, durable and antistatic; an aspect the latter being crucial, since movement plays a key role in the buildup of static electricity.

Thanks to the slide rail profile and the specially designed carriage, which counteracts tipping and self-blocking, the weight of the goods being transported activates suspended transport. ITEM D37-32 ESD sleds move on the slide rail profile with a very slight inclination, precisely only 3° from the point of removal. The pendulum movements are compensated by the gravity trolleys which, with a load capacity of up to 5 kg and fully covered wheels, offer high strength and safety.

It will be sufficient to set the slide rail in the transport trolleys at the desired height or, alternatively, in the racks made from the D30 profile tubes. Through the three open grooves on the top, it is possible to mount the slide rail with special ITEM 6 30 D30 supports on the transverse profiles of a frame: this type of support is suitable for flat and space-saving fixing.
The ITEM 6 30 D30 T1 support, on the other hand, allows the construction of a section that protrudes outside the frame, regardless of position or load. Both variants have a maximum load capacity of 50 kg.

2. ITEM innovations in the field of LED signaling.

ITEM brings among its innovations this fall/winter the solutions of LED strips and signal lamps up to 6 meters long, thanks to which operating states can be displayed in a personalized and super-efficient way . Visualizing the operating status of machines and industrial plants thus becomes possible, easily and effectively, with the new parameterizable LED strips and signal lamps proposed by ITEM in 2023.

This solution uses the signal lamp directly as a traffic light for industrial machines due to preset color coding. Each LED segment can be freely parameterized via IO-Link.

Simple lamps, ready-to-use machine lights, with and without buzzers, LED strips: a huge selection of products to maximally customize the industrial process, in a safe and automated way. Here are some of the new LED signal proposals:

• Multi-segment RGB LED strips
  Attachment is via the LED 8 containment profile, a continuous light strip with numerous individually controllable LED segments, available in four lengths from 1 to 6 meters. The light strip is customizable and can be shortened into 17-mm sections. A multisegment RGB LED strip is controlled by a dedicated controller that allows four different modes of operation, for individual parameter assignment, via IO-Link.
  
• The3-segment IO-Link RGB signal lamp with buzzer
  This lamp has three controllable segments and a very clear and audible warning buzzer. It uses the signal light directly as a traffic light for cars thanks to preset color coding. You can also create custom beacons using colors, brightness and lighting effects, such as flashing or other particularly visible options, to choose from. The IO-Link RGB signal lamp is also available in a version without buzzer and without IO-Link.
  
• 1-segment IO-Link RGB signal lamp.
  A multifunctional lamp that is durable, rugged and immediately ready for mounting in both production and logistics environments.
  
  All ITEM signaling lamps are supplied with bracket and all necessary mounting materials.

3. The per-bank system: more control and more variability in freight transportation

The new ITEM 8 D8 tailgate system offers unique design freedom for safely guiding and transporting all kinds of goods, in a wide variety of situations. A system based essentially on a few basic components, which can be modulated in many ways with each other. It is possible to position the side guide inside or outside the transport path at the desired height, thanks to the brackets with a large turning radius.

The sturdy and compact 8 24×20 P30 profile serves as a tailrail: it guides the goods to be transported directly along the low-friction aluminum profile for unique design freedom and safe transport of goods.

Containers for small loads or workpiece carriers that protrude above the conveyor line can then be guided on a conveyor belt in the same way as individual products: channelization of goods or connection of bend paths is also supported. By mounting a side rail on different conveyor paths using the practical 8 D8 ITEM side rail support, it is possible to purposefully narrow the conveyor path to the pick-up point. In each case, the solution fits perfectly with ITEM conveyor belts with side groove 8: by changing the sliding block, it is also possible to use this type of sideboard system, even with other profiles.

The robust 8 24×20 D30 profile serves as the side rail. Its special design, compact and with low friction coefficient, it combines the properties of groove 5 and D30 profiled tubing, making it perfect for building a tailboard to guide the transported goods directly along the low-friction aluminum profile.

By equipping the sideboard system with the ESD 5 sliding strip or D30 sliding strip, the variety of components is further reduced. On the other hand, the sideboard support 8 D8 is connected to the rear slot 8: with this space-saving support, it is possible to ensure anti-rotation attachment to the frame and sideboard, and all that is needed for assembly is a screw.
