PNEUMATICS AND INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION: DEFINITION, APPLICATIONS, SOLUTIONS

Pneumatics is a technology based on the use of compressed gas to produce mechanical motion , and together withhydraulics, belongs to the field of fluid technology.
Pneumatics, unlike hydraulics, which instead uses fluids as the propulsive medium, uses compressed air, thus exploiting this innovation in different fields of application. Controls, or pneumatic systems, operate with atmospheric air subjected to compression-aneconomical and environmentally friendly alternative for propelling machines and tools. In most pneumatic systems, air has an overpressure of 6 bar, while in high-pressure systems, used, for example, between components in gas pipelines or gas lines, 18 bar is reached. Note well: the highest pressure, on the other hand, is required for the production of plastic bottles, going as high as 40 bar pressure.

Pneumatics: comes from a Greek word, pneuma, meaning breath, wind. The term today goes to denote a diverse field of technology in which, in short, compressed air-driven systems are used. Through compressed air, motion and propulsion are provided: pneumatics enables the operation, in addition to classic pneumatic cylinders, of specific and complex systems, such as:

• vacuum systems
• the calipers or air springs
• shock-absorbing components

Use of pneumatics in industry and crafts

Due to their efficiency and cost-effectiveness, pneumatic systems , and compressed air tools more generally, have become a popular choice for many operators working not only in industry but also in handicrafts.

In fact, pneumatic systems are used in materials handling, as well as in robotics, medical technology, transportation-pneumatic controls are built into the air brakes of trucks or buses-as well as in propulsion.

The most commonly used pneumatic tools are now commonly adopted in so many areas, industrial and otherwise, such as ratcheting wrenches, grinders, circular saws, air guns, sanders, drills, atomizers-used for spraying paint-marking devices for floors and other surfaces, etc.

Pneumatics also finds use in rubber tires, pallet trucks and other types of industrial trucks: the transport of goods, whether liquids or small products, can be carried out through the use of a pneumatic hose powered by compressed air.
